Hello! I am writing to tell you about an exciting menu of services that Colonial Floor Care is currently offerring.

Many interior designers and home renovation companies are responding to the challenges of the current economy by tailoring their services to fit every budgret. For example, some design companies are offering to rearrange existing decor to maimize their imapct on the overall design of the hoem, rather that providing a complete redecoration. The cost is of course, sugstatially less costly.

At Colonial Floor Care, we are offerring similar services. For example, if you are not currently able or willing to have a complete floor restoration on your terrazzo, concrete, marble, granite or slate floor, but you would like to upgrade its appearance, let’s say, for the holidays, then Colonial Floor Care can provide a simple grind/polish at a lesser cost.

For more information about these services, give us a call at 305-731-2242 in Miami, 954-566-4555 in Ft Lauderdale and 561-337-1408 in Palm Beach.

To clean your newly restored terrazzo floor, we recommend using a neutralizer rather  than soap or detergent. Neutralizers can be purchased at any home care or hardware store.

Soap and detergents can dull the terrazzo floor’s shine and actually attract dirt because of the residue they leave behind.

Many people, especially those new to South Florida, aren’t exactly sure what terrazzo is. According to The National Terrazzo and Mosaic Association, the word terrazzo is derived from the italian “terrace” or “terrazza” and was defined over the centuries as “a form of mosaic flooring made by embedding small pieces of marble in mortar, and then polishing”.

Today, the NTMA defines this traditional material as follows: “Terrazzo consists of marble, granite, onyx or glass chips in portland cement or resinous material. The terrazzo is poured, cured, ground and polished. ”

According to Marble Masters UK, Terrazzo has been used as a flooring product since Roman tomes. Today it enjoys an enviable reputation as an attractive hard flooring that delivers an appealing combination of durability, ease of maintenance, beauty and performance.

Terrazzo is an amazingly “green” product. It is environmentally safe to install or restore (if green , chemical- free methods are used by experts such as Colonial Floor Care). It is also easy to maintain and very hygenic. It does not harbor dust mites or mold, and helps keep Florida homes cool.

At Colonial Floor Care, we know about concrete polishing.

In South Florida, there are many problems associated with epoxy sealers and paint when it comes to your garage floor.  Because of the intense humidity and moisture from rain,  sealers are not a good idea for your concrete garage floor.  In addition to moisture problems, (more…)

At Colonial Floor Care we are able to restore many terrazzo floors that others cannot, owing to our expert methods. There are times however, when the stains left behind after removing old tiles that covered the terrazzo floors, are so deep and dark, that even we cannot satisfactorally remove them.

The unsightly patterns left behind by the old tiles are called “ghosting”. When severe ghosting occurs, we recommend a process different than (more…)
